Security Officer

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer PD, you will ensure a reasonably safe and secure healthcare environment by promptly responding to security emergencies, maintaining a professional demeanor, and meticulously documenting all incidents and requests.Every day you will observe and report activities/incidents at your assigned site, preserve order, enforce regulations and policies when assistance is requested by medical staff/employees, and support CommonSpirit Health's strategic plan and quality improvement activities.To be successful in this role, you will possess strong observational and reporting skills, a professional demeanor, the ability to respond effectively to emergencies, and a commitment to upholding safety and security standards consistent with CommonSpirit Health's core values.

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes
• Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports. Ensures that all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear, concise, legible and submitted in a timely manner.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to right location.
• Keeping the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of all decision making and action.
• Demonstrates the professional and technical skills necessary for the role, exhibiting both depth and breadth of expertise. Builds trust and confidence through respectful and credible interactions that reflect positively on personal integrity and the organization’s mission.

Job Requirements

Required:

 

• High School Graduate or equivalent GED and Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, Law enforcement or military service; or One (1) year experience as a Security Officer
• Security Guard: CA, upon hire and
• Driver's License: CA, within 30 Days and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days. We accept American Heart Association
• Able to properly use assigned equipment and follow established policies and procedures
• Completes ICS 100, 200, 700 training courses within 90 Days of hire
• Familiar with the duties and responsibilities of being a security officer
• Knowledgeable in the use of de-escalation techniques
• Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health
• Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally and in writing

Preferred:

• Basic Health Care Security Officer, upon hire
