People Operations Manager at a Global AI Startup

High-growth startup at the center of the AI industry is looking for a People Operations Manager to support their Chief of Staff. In this role, you'll own onboarding and offboarding, coordinate payroll across multiple international entities, manage benefits and compliance admin, and help run office and team operations. Someone who is warm, organized, and process-driven, with the ability to build systems that scale as the team grows quickly across multiple countries. This is an in-office role, five days/week, based in San Francisco's Financial District. 130-160K DOE + equity, 401K with match, and 4 weeks PTO. 

Responsibilities:

• Own onboarding and offboarding for new hires and departing employees, including equipment, systems access, and first-week logistics.
• Coordinate payroll across multiple international entities, working alongside outside counsel and payroll providers as needed.
• Administer employee benefits and ensure ongoing compliance across all entities.
• Run office and team operations, including hosting guests, coordinating team events, and handling day-to-day office needs.
• Build and improve people ops processes and systems as the team continues to scale quickly.
• Support the leadership team's operating cadence as needed.

• Previous 5+ years of experience in people operations, HR operations, or a similar role, ideally at a high-growth startup.
• Experience coordinating payroll, benefits, or compliance across multiple entities or countries is a strong plus.
• Warm, approachable, and genuinely enjoys being the person people go to with questions.
• Highly organized and process-driven, with the ability to build structure without over-formalizing things.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable managing sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Genuine interest in using AI tools to improve and automate operational processes is a plus.
