Position Summary:
This Federal Work Study position will support current students in the following ways: Provide onboarding and training to students with disabilities on assistive technology. Research and create resource handouts for mental health, wellness, time management, study techniques, and helpful applications. Work on projects to help educate the campus community about students with disabilities and universal design. This position will complement and reinforce a Federal Work Study student’s educational program or vocational goals in the following ways: Teach the importance of universal design and access, task prioritization, meeting deadlines, working autonomously as part of a team, learning administrative and customer service skills, and the importance of doing research and information dissemination.
Responsibilities:
Provide support to Accessibility Resources staff while working autonomously as part of a team
Support Accessibility Resources staff with projects and administrative work, including answering phones, word processing, data entry, designing Accessibility Resources educational materials, and other tasks as needed
Maintain all files in an organized manner which are backed up by supervisor
Learn the importance of universal design and access
Set up and monitor Slack for FWS team communication and collaboration
Provide training/support/onboarding to Accessibility Resources students with note-taking accommodations who will be using the Otter AI note-taking application via Zoom
Provide training/support to Accessibility Resources students on using accessible computer software and technology.
Connect peers to resources on and off campus
Consistently vet San Francisco, Bay Area, National, and Remote health resources through calls, emails, and internet research
Research, create, and submit Instagram social media posts to the department supervisor.
Qualifications:
High attention to detail, excellent communication, multitasking, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Maintain a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and respect student confidentiality
Ability to work efficiently with a remote and onsite team
Ability to work independently and efficiently, while maintaining deadlines with varying levels of instruction
Proficiency with both Mac and PC preferred. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency with social media platforms including Instagram, Discord, Facebook, etc.

Pay Rate:
$19.61 per hour

Between 8 and 15 hours per week
Up to 20 hours per week*
*Federal Work Study work schedules may not conflict with the student's class schedule.
Length of Employment: Typically, the student's starting term at the Academy of Art University through graduation.
