Description
Performs manual labor on County Parks and Recreation areas; maintenance and repair of facilities and construction of new facilities; maintains and uses of park areas.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the direct supervision Trails/Canyons Supervisor and Lead
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None
DUTIES:
Assists trails supervisor and lead worker in coordinating and monitoring parks and trails priorities, services and projects. Will perform a number of entry level carpentry, masonry and construction to maintain and up grad parks and trails facilities.
Will paint equipment and structures used by the public, collect and clean up refuse left behind by park patrons and perform other tasks associated with park operations.
Maintains the natural environmental aesthetics of the parks and trails areas, reports vandalism and corrects the problem.
Assists in a variety of seasonal duties such as winterizing various restroom facilities, sprinkler and water systems, flushes and maintains water systems in the spring and summer months. Cleans and maintains restroom facilities and other structures, equipment facilities.
May operate a variety of equipment and tools such as landscaping equipment, hand tools and power tools including maintenance and repair of all tools and equipment and reporting of mechanical problems to the supervisor to insure that repairs are made to guarantee the safety of those who operate the tools and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Graduation form high school;
AND
Must be eighteen years of age.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to perform heavy labor for extensive periods; ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold and dust; ability to lift 50 pounds or heavier.
Knowledge of basic maintenance and work practices; and skill in the operation of hand tools.
Some knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment necessary for the performance of construction, maintenance and repair work; knowledge of the hazards and safety practices common to building construction, maintenance and repair activities.
Ability to communicate effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Utah Drivers License.
