Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) is a leading arts and education institution dedicated to excellence in dance training, community programming, and health initiatives. NBS has 300+ employees supporting programs ranging from professional ballet training, community engagement, and groundbreaking health initiatives. The Role: Reporting to the Chef de Cuisine, the Dishwasher plays an essential role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly. You’ll help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for students, staff, and guests across the Mona Campbell Square Café and Currie Hall.
This is a hands-on, active role where your work directly supports the team behind the scenes.
Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays (approximately 24 hours per week)

What You’ll Do:
- Keep the kitchen sparkling—sweep, mop, take out garbage, and break down boxes like a pro
- Power through dish duty by loading, running, and unloading industrial dishwashers
- Ensure a steady supply of clean dishes, cutlery, and serving ware
- Scrub pots and pans until they shine and store them in their proper homes
- Receive and organize deliveries (dry goods, fresh produce, meat—you name it)
- Move food, supplies, and equipment between kitchen spaces as needed
- Pitch in wherever required to support the team and keep things running smoothly
- Take on other duties as needed—because teamwork makes it all work
What You Bring:
- Experience in a food services role, ideally in a professional or institutional kitchen
- A valid Food Handler’s Certificate
- Solid understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and WHMIS practices
- Confidence using industrial dish machines and the 3-compartment sink method
- Ability to follow instructions and stick to routines
- Knowledge of health & safety and safe food handling practices
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- Strong interpersonal skills—you’re a team player through and through
- Weekend availability is a must
Compensation Rate: $17.95 per hour
