Acting as a trusted advisor, this role is responsible for translating School of Medicine mission and goals, including medical (MD) and graduate program education, community outreach, research, and other priorities of the School of Medicine, into strategic, multi-channel marketing and communications plans that align with University priorities and brand standards. The Marketing Manager coordinates with Marketing and Communications (MarCom) colleagues to deliver campaigns on time, on budget, and on goal, fostering collaboration and measurable impact across the University

The ideal candidate brings both a strategic mindset and hands-on execution skills: a strong marketing background, excellent listening and relationship-building abilities, and a track record of turning complex needs into clear, actionable plans and well-executed initiatives. They inspire trust, balance multiple priorities with ease, and thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment rooted in Jesuit values.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Planning and Implementation

  • Help lead the development of integrated, multi-channel marketing and communications strategies that drive enrollment, reputation, revenue, and student success.

  • Collaborate with School of Medicine partners and MarCom experts to align marketing efforts and strategic communications, including social media, web content, print, and internal and external messaging.

  • Translate strategies into actionable marketing initiatives; develop creative briefs and project roadmaps; manage task lists and timelines to guide content, design, and channel strategy.

  • Execute marketing campaigns across paid media, web, and social channels, engaging cross-functional teams of subject matter experts, writers, designers, and vendor partners as needed, to deliver campaigns from conception through execution and evaluation.

  • Monitor plan execution, timelines, and budgets, proactively addressing risks or barriers to success to ensure follow through.

  • Oversee performance tracking, working closely with vendor partners when applicable. Use performance metrics and analytics to inform data-driven recommendations and continuous improvement.

  • Uphold SLU’s brand strategy, visual identity, and editorial standards across all projects.

Campus Partner Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison for the School of Medicine, working with unit experts to regularly assess needs, gather insights, and identify priorities and objectives.

  • Facilitate collaboration between campus partners and MarCom colleagues, ensuring transparency, alignment, and shared success.

  • Identify and act on timely opportunities to advance University and campus-unit objectives. Interact with faculty, staff, and students to cultivate story ideas aligned with audience insights and strategic areas of expertise.

  • Monitor relevant regional and national trends; develop a deep understanding of the health sciences sector and audiences; identify and develop newsworthy content and support the MarCom PR team on media placement opportunities and timely stories for amplification through owned channels.

  • Collaborate closely with unit and admission partners throughout the prospective student journey to optimize marketing and communication channels at each phase.

  • Provide strategic counsel to campus partners and University leadership, grounded in higher education marketing trends and data insights.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing, paid media strategy, and/or project management, ideally in an agency or in health care, medical education, higher education, or other complex organizations.

  • Proven success leading integrated marketing and communications initiatives and cultivating strong relationships.

  • Expertise in paid media tactics, platforms, tracking, automation, and emerging marketing technologies.

  • Knowledge of channel strategy and content best practices across earned, owned and shared marketing channels.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marketing or advertising agency experience.

  • Experience in higher education marketing, health sciences, or health care marketing.

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday, Trello, Wrike), and analytics dashboards.

  • Knowledge of enrollment marketing, reputation-building, and stakeholder engagement.
