Description



 

Supports shipping/receiving, staging, and material handling activities in a refinery environment to ensure the smooth flow of products and materials.

**Schedule:** 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday. This role operates on a rotating schedule: two weeks on days (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM) followed by two weeks on afternoons (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM). Weekend availability is required for one day shift, two weekends per month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with product loading/unloading, staging, and general housekeeping.

  • Follow safe work practices and site traffic controls. Use basic tools:  pipe wrench, crowbar, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.

  • Calculate levels in tanks using basic math.

  • Monitor the loading/unloading operations the entire time the pump is moving product to or from the truck.  

  • Monitor incoming trucks bringing in used motor oi, antifreeze, and oily water.

  • Monitor outgoing trucks taking out asphalt and wastewater.

  • Complete basic shipping/receiving documentation and communicate operational issues.

  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift) as trained and qualified.

  • Adhere to regulatory expectations including OSHA 29 standards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma/GED required.

  • Minimum One year of experience in a plant or truck unloading/loading environment.

  • Specific Requirements Training on material handling equipment operation.

  • Prior refinery, chemical, terminal, or continuous-process manufacturing experience a plus.

  • Accuracy of Basic Shipping/Receiving Documentation

Key Internal and External Partners:

  • Internal: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, Logistics Manager, Operations personnel.

  • External: Third-party carriers.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work outdoors year around in industrial environment.

  • Walking refinery areas and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.

  • Extended standing/walking and occasional lifting up to 50lbs are typical.

Working Conditions:

  • Industrial refinery environment with exposure to noise, heat, weather, and chemicals; office work as applicable.

  • This role supports 24/7 coverage and may require rotating shifts (often 12-hour day/night rotation), weekends/holidays, overtime, and call-out response during upsets or emergencies.
