Description
- Participate in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of utility lines.
- Operate equipment related to a utility system such as a backhoe, mini excavator, dump truck, combo truck, hydro-excavator, air compressor, concrete saw, dump truck and other heavy equipment.
- Use a variety of power and hand tools during line repairs.
- Ensure the safe operating conditions of the work site such as traffic hazards, equipment operation, barricades and road and site areas.
- Excavate lines, cuts pipe, saw and jack hammer concrete.
- Read maps and blueprints to locate lines.
- Log completed daily maintenance.
- Maintain and inspect department equipment.
- Check meters, gauges, pumps, and control panels to verify correct operation of equipment and records information.
- Locate and repair water & wastewater mains.
- Flush water lines when necessary for water quality.
- Repair water & wastewater mains, valves, services, meters, and fire hydrants.
- Assist with Streets and Utility Billing departments when needed.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Must possess a valid Class B CDL at time of hire.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
Minimum 1 Class C and 1 Class equivalent TCEQ for Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection. Examples: Class C Water Distribution and Class I collections. Class D Water and Class II or above Collection.
Ability to obtain C equivalents in Water and Wastewater within 12 months after accepting the position.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
