Job Summary

The Director of Product Development and Implementation is responsible for ensuring products are fully defined, market-ready, and operationally executable—from concept through launch and ongoing delivery. This role ensures product readiness across value proposition, pricing, sales enablement, implementation, and service operations, partnering cross-functionally to confirm products can be effectively sold, implemented, and supported at scale. In parallel, the role establishes and embeds rigorous product development lifecycle (PDLC) practices, including standardized processes, governance, and documentation (e.g., requirements, business cases, operating models, and playbooks) to drive consistency, accountability, and speed to market. Ultimately, this leader bridges strategy and execution by translating innovation into scalable, repeatable performance. They are a central integrator across product, sales, operations and service with the ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately.

Job Responsibilities:

Product Readiness & Launch Execution

  • Ensure all products are fully defined, packaged, and market-ready (value proposition, pricing, target segments)
  • Confirm sales readiness, including positioning, collateral, and enablement
  • Own go‑to‑market readiness gates to ensure products can be launched with confidence
  • Establish clear success metrics and post-launch monitoring

Operational & Service Readiness

  • Ensure products can be implemented, delivered, and serviced at scale
  • Align cross-functional teams (ops, claims, clinical, network, customer service) on processes and workflows
  • Identify and resolve operational gaps and dependencies prior to launch
  • Define service models and support structures for ongoing delivery
  • Review of proposal content for RFPs and other internal resources
  • Work with Luminare Health Product Managers to ensure content provided to Training team is accurate and/or updated when product changes occur

Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) Leadership

  • Design and implement standardized PDLC processes from ideation through launch and optimization
  • Establish governance, stage gates, and decision frameworks
  • Drive cross-functional accountability and alignment throughout the lifecycle
  • Improve speed to market while managing execution risk

Documentation & Process Discipline

  • Develop and maintain core product documentation (requirements, business cases, operating models, playbooks)
  • Create a repeatable framework for product definition and delivery
  • Ensure documentation enables clarity, scalability, and knowledge transfer
  • Institutionalize best practices and continuous improvement

Cross-Functional Leadership & Alignment

  • Serve as the central integrator across product, sales, operations, and service
  • Align stakeholders on priorities, tradeoffs, and execution plans
  • Drive resolution of conflicts and competing demands

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of experience
  • 4 years of managerial experience
  • Strong sales and client/customer support and retention experience.
  • 4 years of relevant product management and solutioning experience (NOTE: change to set years and an “or” statement)
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships
  • Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of associates in the organization as well as clients, brokers and other external parties
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as a high degree of creativity, flexibility and self-direction
  • Strong analytical skills, including use of data and analytics tools to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of solutions and then provide recommendations.
  • Resourceful in the ability to identify and obtain new sources of information
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate and manage projects in a deadline-sensitive environment
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Requirements:

  • Health care payer / TPA industry background
  • Masters degree in business administration with emphasis in marketing
  • Experience with product lifecycle tools like pragmatic marketing
  • Familiarity with point solution vendors in the healthcare space

This is a hybrid role, based in Rosemont, IL

The compensation offered will vary depending on your job-related skills, education, knowledge, and experience. This role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan subject to the terms and the conditions of the plan.

Min to Max Range:

$118,300.00 - $222,200.00
