Health + Safety Advisor

Location: North Lanarkshire

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, plus car allowance

About the Role:

As a Health + Safety Advisor, you will support branch management and operational teams to ensure the effective implementation of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.

  • Attend incident locations when required, including outside normal working hours, to support incident response provide health and safety advice to operational teams.
  • Ensure employees and subcontractors carry out work safely and in compliance with legislation, company policies and contract requirements
  • Carry out and record site inspections, identifying areas for improvement and supporting corrective actions
  • Support branch management with all health and safety matters
  • Attend monthly health and safety meetings with branch management teams
  • Promote and develop a strong safety culture throughout the business
  • Monitor and support health and safety training requirements across the branch
  • Ensure adequate first aid provision is maintained
  • Review and support the completion of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, producing detailed reports and recommendations
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to operational teams on health and safety best practice

Key Criteria:

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Understanding of health and safety issues within the building and construction industry
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and safe systems of work
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Working towards Grad IOSH

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
