We are seeking a Sr Regulatory Tax Accountant to join our team in our corporate office located in Sioux Falls, SD. In this role, you will manage and assist in the preparation of returns, payments, reports and maintain the company’s tax database as well as find tax solutions, ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations.

The Role
- Lead and oversee tax and regulatory compliance activities, including preparation and review of tax returns, filings, payments and reports
- Research and resolve complex tax and compliance issues and provide recommendations to management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations and applicable industry requirements
- Advise management on tax liabilities, regulatory changes and the impact of new laws and requirements
- Develop, implement and improve compliance policies, procedures and internal controls
- Monitor compliance, identify risks and lead corrective actions, audits and regulatory reviews
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, Operations and other departments to maintain compliance
- Provide training and guidance to employees and leadership on tax and compliance requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to tax and regulatory compliance
- Stay current on tax laws, regulations and industry developments
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and company information
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience in tax, regulatory compliance, accounting or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required
- Experience with Avalara preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and federal, state and local tax regulations
- Advanced analytical, organizational, investigative and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to independently research complex issues and develop effective solutions
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proven ability to develop and implement processes and internal controls
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information
- Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
