Salary range (but not limited to):
174,500 - 213,300Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We're looking for a Director, Actuarial – Claims Data & Analytics in our innovative Claims team!
The Director, Claims Data & Analytics (CDAT) is at the heart of the strategy in our Claims organization. Being a part of the largest business unit within Intact, the exposure of this role crosses many business units within Claims and our Intact strategies. This role is the voice and interpretation of our results within Claims and is heavily relied on to provide consulting on trends and actions to stakeholders widely in the organization.
The Director, Claims Data & Analytics works closely with senior members of the Claims Leadership team – including the Senior Vice-President of Claims and their direct team, our COO, and contributes to forums including other Senior Executives at Intact. There is a high interaction with many business units within IFC (ie Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Speciality Lines and the Lab) as well as collaboration to consult across countries. For this reason, it is a highly visible role.
This role has a highly talented team with approximately 3 direct reports (2 actuarial managers & 1 specialist), and a team of approximately 15 analysts who are all focused on various aspects of the claims operations, the interpretation of results and development of innovative tools & models.
CDAT objectives:
- Be the centralized voice of claims data, reporting, and tools used by claims operations.
- Be innovative - develop tools and models to help the claims operations be more efficient and make better-informed decisions.
- Be proactive to identify trends and propose solutions to keep good control on indemnity.
- Work closely with Supply Chain in the deployment and tracking of our Supply Chain strategy.
What you will do here:
- You will continually explore the Claims environment to identify relevant trends and actions for the organization to take action on.
- You will educate and build awareness of key trends with internal stakeholders within the Claims leadership team and external teams within IFC.
- With your team, you will conduct various primary and secondary investigations on trends as required with senior leaderships in the claims operations and their team, growing an extensive knowledge of the workings of the Claims strategy.
- Management of your team’s resources by organizing, planning and monitoring the optimal use of capacity in accordance with the Claims and IFC strategic objectives and priorities.
- Continually assess corporate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and promote actionable proposals to address them.
- Identify new organizational capabilities necessary to sustain long-term competitive advantage and growth.
- Act as a councillor to decision makers by presenting a rational point of view supported by quantitative assessment and offer appropriate recommendations in various forums within IFC.
- Manage performance and talent of the team and direct reports – including development, training, and coaching of your team members in order to attain the company’s strategic objectives and grow talent.
What you bring to the table:
- University Degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics
- FCIA or FCAS designation is an asset
- Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience, including 4 at a Manager level
- Professional experience in P&C insurance
- Ability to work under pressure at all levels of the organization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to make strategic decisions independently and collaboratively with various business units in and outside of the actuarial community
- Leading by vision and values
- Outstanding skills in negotiating, driving engagement, and developing strategic working relationships
- Ability to facilitate change through risk-taking
- Strong ability and political sense to influence various level of management
- Understanding of Claims is an asset as well as having previous experience working outside of actuarial teams
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
