Description
We are seeking an experienced Loader Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience working on underground utility projects, site development, and earthwork operations, with the ability to safely and efficiently operate loaders in support of excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and material handling activities. This position plays a key role in maintaining project productivity, safety, and quality while working closely with utility crews, operators, and supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Operate wheel loaders and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently on construction projects.
- Load, transport, stockpile, and distribute materials including soil, aggregate, rock, sand, and pipe bedding material.
- Support underground utility crews involved in water, sewer, storm sewer, and drainage installations.
- Assist with excavation, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation activities.
- Maintain proper grades and material placement in accordance with project specifications.
- Work closely with foremen, operators, and laborers to ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and utility excavation requirements.
- Assist with general earthwork and site development operations as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3+ years of heavy equipment operating experience, with significant experience operating loaders on civil construction projects.
- Experience working around underground wet utilities, including water, sewer, storm sewer, or drainage systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Experience with government contracts and compliance is a plus
