Are You Our Next R&D Manager – Lead the Future of Industrial Measurement Technology
Imagine leading the development of cutting-edge embedded systems and measurement technologies that help industries operate smarter, safer, and more sustainably. As Manager, A&M SW & HW Development, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Valmet's advanced measurement solutions by combining deep technical expertise with people leadership and technology strategy.
In this role, you will lead software and hardware development activities related to embedded measurement systems while guiding a highly skilled team of experts. You will work at the intersection of technology innovation, product development, and business strategy, influencing technology decisions that impact our products globally.
This position is based in Kajaani, where our product management, production, testing facilities, and a significant part of our R&D organization are located. This provides a unique environment for close collaboration, rapid prototyping, and hands-on product development.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of software and hardware professionals working with advanced embedded measurement systems.
- Own and drive technology development related to embedded software, electronics, and system architecture.
- Guide key technical decisions, technology selection, and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Act as a senior technical authority and contribute to architectural-level development and problem-solving.
- Lead public research and development projects, including Business Finland funded initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with product management, R&D, production, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product development outcomes.
- Coordinate external development partners and subcontractors.
- Foster innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous development within the team and wider organization.
- Support the implementation of Valmet's strategic goals through technology leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
What We Expect from You
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Engineering (M.Sc.) and understanding of measurement technologies, automation, electrical engineering, or related industrial technologies
- Strong experience in Embedded systems development, Embedded software engineering, Electronics design and development and/ or System architecture and technical decision-making
- Proven ability in leading the team as well as lead complex technical development activities and multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong communication skills in both Finnish and English.
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different functions and organizational levels.
- Ability to travel occasionally in our other sites mainly in Finland in Tampere and Oulu.
