Overview
The Pharmacy Technician at Cook Family Health Center supports the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and management of prescription medications while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Responsibilities
• Receive, review, and verify written, electronic, and faxed prescriptions for completeness and accuracy prior to processing• Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients and healthcare providers by responding to questions, directing inquiries, and relaying information to the pharmacist as appropriate• Prepare prescription medications by accurately counting, measuring, packaging, mixing, and labeling products in accordance with physician orders and pharmacy procedures• Calculate and collect prescription payments, prepare purchase tickets, and assist with cash handling and point-of-sale transactions• Maintain accurate patient and prescription records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and all confidentiality requirements• Receive, unpack, and properly store incoming pharmaceutical products, medical supplies, and inventory
• Verify merchandise quantities against packing slips and invoices, report discrepancies, and assist with inventory reconciliation• Update product pricing and pharmacy system information to reflect manufacturer, wholesaler, and pharmacy price changes• Monitor inventory levels, identify low-stock items, and communicate purchasing and replenishment needs to supervisors to ensure adequate supply levels• Assist with inventory control procedures, including stock rotation, expiration date monitoring, and removal of outdated products• Utilize National Drug Code (NDC) numbers to accurately identify, select, and process medications, ensuring the correct product is dispensed• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that supports efficient pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent required• Active Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required - must maintain active certification throughout employment• Requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to maintain confidential patient information• 1-2 years technician experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to walk & stand for long periods of time• Able to bend & lift• Utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.• Able to lift 20+ pounds occasionally
