About the role and opportunity on offer -

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and optimise logistics operations across multiple sites within the BOC gases network in Queensland. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a safety-focused operations professional who thrives in complex transport and logistics environments and is passionate about people, performance, and continuous improvement.

As the Operations Manager, you will lead a team of supervisors and oversee a large frontline workforce, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant operations across multiple locations. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, supporting frontline leaders, managing stakeholder relationships, and delivering strong performance outcomes across safety, compliance, service, people and cost.

This role offers significant exposure to national stakeholders and provides the opportunity to influence strategic outcomes within a critical transport operation.

Regular travel between sites is required, and occasional after‑hours or weekend work may be necessary to support operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities / a day in the life of the Operations Manager –

  • Lead and coordinate multi-site transport and logistics operations.

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS, NHVR and Chain of Responsibility requirements.

  • Drive operational performance through effective planning, resource allocation and KPI management.

  • Lead and support frontline supervisors and operational teams.

  • Manage workforce planning, rostering and payroll oversight.

  • Oversee fleet utilisation, maintenance programs and regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct business reviews, audits and operational improvement initiatives.

  • Manage customer and stakeholder relationships to ensure service excellence.

  • Lead continuous improvement activities that enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

You are a proven transport or logistics leader with experience managing large operational teams across multiple sites. You are equally comfortable leading people, solving operational challenges and engaging with senior stakeholders.

You'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in transport, logistics, distribution or fleet operations management.

  • Strong working knowledge of NHVR, Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience managing large-scale operational teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound operational decisions.

  • Experience leading audits, compliance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • A collaborative leadership style focused on accountability, performance and team engagement.
