Description

Let's Write Africa's Story Together!

Old Mutual is a firm believer in the African opportunity and our diverse talent reflects this.

Job Description

Provide financial reporting and finance governance expertise for the OMAR segment. The role integrates multi-country IFRS and management reporting, financial analysis and modelling, internal control, data stewardship and specialist advice to deliver accurate reporting, actionable insight and continuous improvement. It coordinates key reporting cycles, partners with in-country and Group finance stakeholders, and supports the consistent application of standards, controls and leading practice across OMAR.

Responsibilities

Integrated Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly, interim and year-end HFM, IFRS and KPI submissions across OMAR, resolving data-quality issues and ensuring accurate, complete and timely reporting.
  • Consolidate country results and prepare segment-level analytical reviews, interpreting cost and performance drivers, benchmarks, emerging trends and business implications.
  • Develop straightforward financial models, business cases, forecasts and predictive analyses that translate strategic objectives into costs, schedules, scenarios and actionable recommendations.
  • Produce clear management reports and commentary for senior stakeholders, advising on financial outcomes, expense trends, risks and corrective action.

Reporting Governance, Assurance and Technical Accounting

  • Plan and project manage reporting cycles with Group Financial Reporting and in-country finance teams, including reporting instructions, deadlines and external-audit activities where applicable.
  • Manage interim and year-end attestations, analytical reviews and Internal Control Committee sign-off in line with IFRS, Group policies and governance requirements.
  • Review country IFRS submissions and provide guidance on technical accounting matters, including IFRS 17 and implementation of new standards, in partnership with Group Technical.
  • Maintain current professional knowledge and accreditation, and act as a subject matter expert on financial reporting, policy, regulation and leading practice.

Financial Control, Data and Policy

  • Maintain an effective segment financial-control environment by monitoring internal controls, country compliance and adherence to Group policies.
  • Develop control dashboards and reporting requirements; document processes, risks and key controls; and drive remediation of control weaknesses.
  • Govern the integrity, accessibility and effective operation of key financial data and reporting systems, including HFM and related management-information processes.
  • Develop, interpret and review financial policies, guidelines and protocols, resolving complex queries and enabling consistent application across OMAR.

Finance Transformation and Stakeholder Enablement

  • Partner with in-country finance teams, group functions, management reporting and business leaders to improve reporting quality, controls and decision support.
  • Lead or support finance-transformation initiatives, including chart-of-accounts improvements, process standardisation, reporting templates, system enhancements and training.
  • Recommend and implement practical changes to policies, processes, standards and operating practices that improve efficiency, governance and business outcomes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributors, support team delivery and build effective relationships across OMAR; regional travel may be required.
