Overview
Element Materials Technology in Baltimore has an opportunity for a Materials Technician II to join our team. As a member of the operations team in Baltimore, the Materials Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician position must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Salary: $65,000- $75,000/yr DOE
Responsibilities
- Review and understand customer specifications and / or statements of work to prepare samples and set-up testing
- Perform preparation and testing with limited supervision
- Operate under the guidance of a senior test technician and/or a Department Manager
- Report writing, data interpretation and analysis
- Performing other duties to fulfil the demands of the laboratory
- Performing general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, quality as well as Health and Safety system
Skills / Qualifications
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- HS diploma or GED certificate required, college or vocational school coursework preferred
- Laboratory experience preferred
- Possess strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, laboratory software programs)
- Familiarity with material properties such as tensile strength, hardness, flexural strength, coefficient of thermal expansion, glass transition temperature, and thermal conductivity
- Basic understanding of cutting / sample preparation tools
- Technical writing skills preferred
- Ability to inspect / analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed into a test report
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
