General Notes

The Physics Department is seeking a reliable, hands-on Work-Study student to help prepare and maintain instructional lab spaces. Primary responsibilities include assembling and setting up physics lab experiments each Friday (Friday availability preferred), assisting students and TAs at the service window, and helping with general equipment management. Tasks may involve lifting up to 50 lbs, building or assembling furniture, moving and organizing lab materials, and occasional basic physical work to keep the space running smoothly.

Job Description Summary

The Physics Lab Student Facilities Technician position helps set up weekly physics labs on Fridays, provides customer service to students and TAs at the lab window, and performs hands-on tasks like lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs), assembling furniture, and organizing lab materials.

Position Duration:
This is a Fall 2026 position. The position may continue into the Spring Session if the student receives a Work-Study award for that period.

Salary Range

$16.00/hour, depending on Work-Study award amount

Work Shift:

Up to 19 hours a week (based on your availability)

Must be able to work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m (Monday-Fridays). This is for an onsite (non-remote) position.

Working Conditions

  • Typical office conditions
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 50lbs
  • Assemble and set up physics lab experiments each Friday

  • Provide customer service at the lab window, assisting students and TAs

  • Move, organize, and maintain lab equipment and supplies

  • Assist with furniture assembly and general workspace upkeep

  • Perform occasional grunt work as needed to support lab operations
