Schedule: Thursday - Saturday | 10:00 PM - 4:00 AM
Hours: 18 hours per week
 

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is seeking a dependable Unarmed Security Officer for an overnight assignment in Columbia. This position is responsible for maintaining a visible security presence, completing foot patrols, monitoring designated access points, and responding professionally to resident concerns and security-related incidents.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently during overnight hours, communicating respectfully with residents, and using good judgment when unexpected situations arise. Basic familiarity with mobile applications and electronic reporting tools is also helpful for this position.
 

Overnight Security Duties

• Conduct routine foot patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and other designated access points.
• Watch for unauthorized activity, property concerns, suspicious behavior, or safety issues.
• Maintain an active security presence throughout the assigned shift.
• Check designated areas according to established patrol schedules and instructions.
• Report conditions requiring attention to the appropriate supervisor or contact.
   

Resident Interaction & Incident Response

• Interact with residents, visitors, and authorized personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
• Respond appropriately to resident concerns and security-related complaints.
• Observe and assess unusual situations while remaining calm and professional.
• Notify supervisors of incidents that require additional assistance.
• Follow established procedures when responding to disturbances, emergencies, or other security concerns.
• Contact emergency services when circumstances require immediate outside assistance.
• Document incidents and relevant observations accurately.
   

Access Monitoring

• Monitor assigned entrances and access points during scheduled hours.
• Observe individuals entering or leaving designated areas.
• Report suspected unauthorized access or activity.
• Follow established access-control procedures and supervisor instructions.
• Maintain awareness of activity around monitored entry points.
• Report damaged doors, locks, lighting, or other security-related concerns.
   

Reporting & Technology

• Complete daily activity logs and incident reports as required.
• Record patrol observations and notable events using approved reporting methods.
• Use mobile applications and electronic systems to document security activity.
• Communicate important shift information to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and complete records throughout each shift.
• Learn and use assigned technology according to company procedures.
   

Required Qualifications

• Active Guard Card required.
• Ability to work the scheduled overnight hours consistently.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong observation and situational awareness skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with residents, visitors, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot routine issues and determine when additional assistance is needed.
• Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment during unexpected situations.
• Ability to walk and remain active for extended periods while conducting patrols.
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous security, patrol, customer service, or related experience.
• Experience interacting with residents or members of the public in a professional setting.
• Familiarity with mobile applications, electronic reporting, or other workplace technology.
• Comfortable learning new applications and digital reporting tools.
• Previous experience handling incidents or resolving routine problems independently.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.
   

Work Environment

• Primarily an overnight security assignment.
• Regular foot patrols of assigned areas throughout the shift.
• Frequent interaction with residents and visitors.
• Combination of indoor and outdoor duties.
• Extended periods of walking and standing may be required.
• Outdoor patrols may involve exposure to changing weather conditions.
• Work requires consistent attention to surroundings during late-night hours.
