The Opportunity
Join the Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) team and contribute to a growing specialty portfolio focused on complex commercial risks. As an Equipment Breakdown Underwriter, you will assess and underwrite equipment breakdown exposures, evaluate risk, and deliver customized coverage solutions across diverse industries. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, sound analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to build effective relationships with brokers, clients, and internal partners.
What you will do:
Underwrite equipment breakdown insurance policies by assessing risk, pricing coverage, and determining appropriate terms and conditions.
Analyze technical specifications and maintenance records of clients to evaluate the risk.
Work closely with brokers and clients to gather relevant information and answer policy-related inquiries.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored coverage solutions for clients.
Monitor and manage the performance of existing policies, making adjustments as necessary.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to machinery breakdown insurance.

What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in insurance, engineering, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in machinery breakdown underwriting or a similar role within the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of machinery and equipment, including their operation, maintenance, and failure modes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and brokers.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
What you’ll get
The salary band for this position ranges from $85,000 - 105,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, as well as internal equity.
