We’re hiring for a hybrid role. You’ll work on-site with your team several days each week (typically 2–3), with the specific days set by your manager. Because regular in-person collaboration is central to this job, we look for candidates who live within about 50 miles of the office.

Senior Revenue Accountant Role
About the role:
The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition during month-end close and driving process improvements that enhance financial reporting and compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and deep knowledge of ASC 606. The Senior Revenue Accountant must also have experience with capitalized commissions and applying ASC 340-40 to maintain accurate commission capitalization, amortization, and documentation. This position plays a key part in supporting business objectives and maintaining high standards of financial integrity.

This is a hybrid role in Herndon, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
Review contracts for compliance with ASC 606, with particular attention to atypical revenue recognition provisions.
Prepare month-end close schedules and reports for accurate revenue recognition.
Manage capitalized commissions in accordance with ASC 340-30, including identifying incremental costs of obtaining contracts, preparing entries and maintaining amortization schedules
Perform account reconciliations for deferred revenue and capitalized commissions, ensuring data integrity across the general ledger, Xactly, and related supporting systems.
Lead process improvement initiatives to optimize revenue accounting and reporting efficiency.
Support external audits by delivering accurate, well‑organized documentation and clear account reconciliations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance processes, refine existing systems, and resolve issues encountered during month-end close.
Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze large datasets, build models, and automate reporting.
Key Knowledge and Skills:
Must have substantial understanding of revenue accounting, ASC 606, and capitalized commissions, gained through experience or professional training.
Demonstrate analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex contracts and financial data.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
Works on assignments that are moderately to highly complex, guided by documented processes but expected to adapt solutions to new challenges.
Requires fact-finding and critical thinking to fully understand issues and recommend appropriate responses.
Accountable for quality and timeliness of deliverables
Communicates technical information clearly with colleagues and stakeholders.
Key Education Requirements:
Typically requires a minimum of 4–6 years of related accounting experience
Experience in the software revenue space is preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA license strongly preferred or actively pursued
A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is:
$116,500.00-159,100.00 USDThe actual salary offered may vary within the range based on a candidates' unique experience, locale, and business needs.
