IMEG is hiring a Planning New Grad in New York, NY. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one. You will support planning projects through research, technical deliverables, and collaboration with senior planners, clients, and community stakeholders.
In this role, you will contribute to maps, reports, concept plans, site evaluations, public meetings, and stakeholder presentations while learning from senior planners and supporting project goals and expectations within the project budget. The team supports public-sector transportation, planning, and landscape architecture work, with current emphasis on transportation planning, community planning, engagement, strategic communications, and environmental planning.

What You'll Do
Conduct research on planning issues, including demographic trends, land use patterns, and environmental impacts
Support transportation planning and mobility-related work focused on community-based needs, active transportation, and safety
Assist in preparing maps, reports, and planning documents using GIS software and other tools
Help prepare project concept and master plans, exhibits, and renderings
Assist with site evaluation studies and entitlement drawing submissions
Participate in public meetings and workshops to gather community input and share information on planning initiatives
Conduct site visits to gather data and assess compliance with planning regulations
Work with public officials, developers, and community members to identify private and public projects
Assist in preparing reports and presentations to communicate planning proposals and findings to stakeholders
Provide support to senior planners in managing planning projects and initiatives
Assist with data collection, drafting, and basic Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tasks

What You'll Bring
Required
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, Architecture, or Arts, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
Skilled in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp
Good research skills, and good written and verbal communication skills
Good organization and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
Preferred
Prior internship experience in the planning consulting industry preferred

Current work emphasizes transportation planning, community planning, engagement, strategic communications, and environmental planning.
Recent work includes CTDOT State Highway Safety Planning On-Call, Government (City/County/State), and Citywide Park and Trail Connectivity, Government (City/County/State).

State of New York Salary Range: $64,000 – $66,000
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
