We are seeking an individual to fill a summer student position with the Ovintiv Sustainability & Social Impact Team. This dynamic group supports Ovintiv’s core business across sustainability reporting and disclosure, community investment, employee engagement and brand efforts. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of research, data analysis, reporting, communication and project coordination activities. The role offers exposure to sustainability topics across the business and the flexibility to support emerging priorities and projects throughout the summer.  

 

This position will be based in our Calgary office and is available for a 4-month term starting in May 2027. 

 

Responsibilities: 

• Collect, organize and analyze sustainability and community investment data, including peer benchmarking and trend analysis.  

• Research emerging sustainability issues, reporting practices, policies and regulations, and summarize findings for internal stakeholders.  

• Prepare responses to various sustainability-focused surveys and questionnaires. 

• Assist with planning community investment and volunteer events, helping to strengthen community engagement and employee participation. 

• Support the development of internal and external communications, including social media content and other materials that highlight sustainability and community investment initiatives. 

• Work collaboratively with team members and internal partners on projects and priorities that evolve throughout the work term.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Currently enrolled in your second or third year of a related discipline such as business, political science, public policy, communications or similar. 

• Interest in sustainability, energy, social impact, corporate reporting, communications, or related topics. 

• Strong research, analytical, and written communications skills. 

• Able to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with different teams. 

• Demonstrates curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with data visualization, collaboration or content-development tools is an asset. 

• Solid academic results in your core subjects, balanced with other work, volunteer or extracurricular experiences. 

• Must be enrolled as a full-time student through December 2027. 

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of your work term without sponsorship. 

• Available to work May 3 – August 19, 2027. 

Hiring Hourly Range: $22.50 – $31.15 CAD  

Compensation may vary and will be determined by year in school.
