The Strategic Product and Portfolio Manager is a key individual for managing and implementing strategic initiatives to improve underwriting efficiencies across personal lines property and auto products, Underwriting’s product usage, and support company objectives. This role requires a multi-line perspective, leveraging expertise in both homeowners and personal auto insurance to optimize portfolio performance and product strategy. The position enables the evolution of the underwriting process through collaborative decision making, analyzing sales and loss trends, understanding process pitfalls and successes, monitoring competitive intelligence, and delivering strategic solutions. The position requires knowledge of insurance risk, determining loss exposures, making recommendations supported by sound analysis, and managing the ongoing monitoring and reporting of these efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and deliver ongoing processes improvements to drive essential business functions, including managing product availability rules, policy, product and coverage placement, systems related enhancements from creation to delivery, and cross-departmental communication loops.
• Monitor portfolio performance across property and auto lines to recommend strategic initiatives and ensure expected portfolio results, including multi-line retention and cross-sell strategies.
• Monitor and analyze interactive dashboards and reporting to regularly track the results of strategic initiatives and their impact on performance. 
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including Corporate and Operational Underwriting, Product Marketing, Sales, BI Analytics, Actuarial, Claims, Systems, Compliance, Reinsurance, and Product Development. 
• Manage project workload, including analysis and design, to consistently meet all deadlines and ensure efficient use of department resources.
• Monitor and adhere to strategic overview or roadmap of new innovative changes, recommendations, known issues, and enhancements to ensure appropriate use of systems resources and eliminate duplicate efforts or inefficiencies. 
• Develop and maintain tools and training materials to support business teams and customers in navigating changing underwriting rules, strategies, and user interfaces.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Statistics, Finance, Product Management, Risk Management, or related field required.

Equivalent experience may substitute for minimum educational requirements. Equivalent experience may include four (4) years of relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience required, including Underwriting, Product, Portfolio, or Project Management.

Prior experience in Personal Lines Property & Casualty insurance, with demonstrated experience in property and auto products strongly preferred. 

CERTIFICATIONS

Relevant designations, including but not limited to, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Product Manager [CPM], Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter [CPCU], Project Management Professional [PMP] preferred.

LICENSES
