Medcan Markham is seeking an experienced, client‑service focused Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in venipuncture, capillary collection, and specimen handling with knowledge of medical laboratory terminology and will ensure accurate and safe collection and processing of blood and other samples within our clinic and laboratory. This role is pivotal in delivering a high-quality client experience and supporting clinical operations. Excellent communication and client service is a must to be successful in this role.
What You'll Do:
Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and capillary collection, ensuring accuracy and client comfort
Confirm client identity and ensure proper specimen labeling, handling, and processing
Complete patient measurements and perform InBody body composition testing as part of lab services
Communicate clearly with clients to explain procedures and support a positive, reassuring experience
Support a smooth client journey through efficient workflow and collaboration with clinic teams
Maintain accurate documentation within laboratory and clinical systems
Follow all health, safety, infection control, and privacy standards
What You'll Need:
Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
Proof of Personal Liability Insurance (PLI) through MLPAO or CSMLS
MLPAO certification is an asset
Minimum two years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or ambulatory setting
Current CPR certification
Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality and safety
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to maintain strict standards of privacy, confidentiality, and professionalism
Comfort using digital tools and systems, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Outlook
Experience with Accuro Electronic Medical Record system is an asset
Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is an asset.
This is a permanent, full-time position, working Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. The role is based at our Markham clinic location (600 Cochrane Drive).
Position Pay Range
$36,374.00 - $50,014.25 CAD annually
Pay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications within the role's compensation grade. Medcan's compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills, market value, and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks, benefits, and potential bonuses or incentives.
