Repsol is hiring a Development Planning Technician to join the Unconventional Business Unit Development Planning team. The ideal candidate has a strong Finance background and will play a vital role in the development of future assets within Repsol's unconventional assets. The role will be based onsite from our office in The Woodlands, TX.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Development Planning Manager of the Unconventional Business Unit, the Development Planning Technician will be responsible for supporting the Development and Reservoir Engineering team with ongoing development of Repsol's unconventional asset acreage. This position will provide assistant and analysis of long-term development planning, portfolio & strategy, competitor intelligence, capital management, forecasting and economic evaluation. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic and ability to deliver complex projects in a timely manner are critical for success in this position. The primary customer for the work products are the Asset Team leaders as well as direct members of the Development and Reservoir Team.

Position responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update scheduling program and report data (Project Management Tool focal point)

  • Capital management, cost tracking analysis and forecasting

  • Develop and own performance scorecards for the Asset Team

  • Support multifunctional detailed projects and well economic evaluations.

  • Perform IRR, NPV and ROI calculations and cash flow analysis in support of economic assessment of opportunities

  • Compile and communicate monthly capital budget reforecasting   

  • Develop and prepare materials for business unit presentations

  • Maintain financial and non-financial business (capital expenditures, revenue, operating costs, G&A, HSE, etc.)

  • Update and track key performance indicators (KPI)

  • Optimize well placement decisions and land utilization

  • Preparation of maps

  • Database administration of Development & Reservoir data 

Required Education, Experience, Technical Qualifications

  • Full US work authorization, without limitations, conditional requirements, or sponsorship required, now or in the future.

  • Bachelor’s degree with course work in accounting and finance is highly recommended; MBA and/or CFA/CPA certification consider a plus

  • Minimum of 3+ years of related experience

  • Strong analytical and computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); VBA experience consider a plus

  • Power BI or Spotfire, Oracle Sql, Microsoft Access desired

  • Prior experience in the oil and gas industry required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable you to effectively interact with management and cross-functional team members to advance projects and ideas

  • Ability to multi task in a fast-paced, results orientated environment which is committed to safe operations

  • High degree of self-motivation, fast learner and a strong team player

  • Excellent quantitative analytical and conceptual skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues and develop recommendations.

  • Strong systems and data mining skills

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Adept at building trusting relationships with peers

Location & Schedule

  • Position is to be supported onsite from the Repsol office located in The Woodlands, TX.

  • Exempt, full time salaried, position may be eligible for hybrid/compressed work schedule (9/80), pending approval based on business needs, and may be reassessed depending on individual performance.
