Description
The Senior Accountant oversees daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient financial processes. Acting as a key link between senior management and the accounting team, this role delivers actionable strategic insights, strengthens internal controls, and upholds the integrity of all financial data.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Close & Financial Reporting
· Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes to ensure accurate records and timely managerial reporting packages (supported by the Shared Services Center).
2. Retail Financial Operations & Controls
· Retail Revenues & Expenses: Establish revenue recognition, sales aggregation, and reconciliation workflows for retail channels (malls, department stores, O2O), while reviewing store operational expenses to optimize cost structures.
· Assets & Inventory Controls: Oversee Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting (IFRS 16), and inventory reconciliations/stocktakes in compliance with group internal controls.
3. Treasury & Working Capital Management
· Monitor daily cash operations, manage working capital efficiency, and prepare regular cash flow projections to optimize liquidity.
4. Tax Compliance, Audit & Risk Management
· Coordinate internal/external audits
· Manage end-to-end local and statutory tax compliance—including corporate income tax, indirect taxes (VAT/GST, sales tax), and withholding tax—ensuring timely, accurate filings while maintaining Transfer Pricing documentation and CbCR requirements in alignment with group policies.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement
· Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline operational workflows, automate routine accounting functions, and improve overall financial efficiency.
· Fulfill ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from APAC Regional Finance and Group Finance
[Qualifications]
· Experience: 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience in a multinational company. Prior experience in the Retail or F&B sectors is strongly preferred.
· Accounting Standards & Internal Controls: Solid command of IFRS (or local GAAP) and internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX). Hands-on expertise in IFRS 16 lease accounting and retail revenue recognition is a strong plus.
· Systems & Tools: Proficient in major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, JD Edwards) with advanced MS Excel capabilities (financial modeling, large dataset reconciliation).
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Business Acumen & Technical Competence: Deep understanding of end-to-end accounting processes, treasury, and tax compliance (including Transfer Pricing and audit management).
· Communication & Collaboration: Professional fluency in both written and spoken English and Korean to effectively partner with local management, regional HQ, and cross-functional teams.
· Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities, with a proactive approach to escalating issues and managing stakeholder relationships.
