The mission of the Wildlife Management Division is to conserve wildlife species and habitats and to develop, implement, and facilitate sound wildlife management policies and programs to ensure the wise use of wildlife resources by North Carolina citizens. • Coordinate and collaborate with private landowners, land managers, consultants, corporations, NGOs, and governmental units to conserve wildlife and habitat in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, including North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission’s (NCWRC) Wildlife Conservation Land Program and USDA Farm Bill programs.
• Work cooperatively with Division wildlife biologists and other Agency staff to implement multiple agency programs and special assignments, including multiple biological data collection efforts, technical assistance for human wildlife interactions, handling live and dead animals, using immobilization drugs to capture live animals, and conducting wildlife disease/mortality investigations including field necropsies.
• Assist district staff in addressing human wildlife interaction issues (HWI) on a frequent basis, including involvement in outreach programs specifically aimed at reducing negative HWIs across the district and region.
• Assist with surveys, monitoring, restoration, and research activities for wildlife species within the WMD.
• Prepare and present wildlife programs to a wide variety of public and professional audiences.
• Attend joint meetings with other agency and division staff members, helping to plan and monitor ongoing projects, providing technical expertise relative to overall activities, and attending regular section/project meetings to assess program status.

The employee in this position is expected to provide home office space compliant with WRC and State policies. This position requires a home-based duty station within WRC District 3, which consists of Edgecombe, Franklin, Halifax, Johnston, Nash, Northampton, Wake, Warren, Wayne, Wilson, and Vance counties.

A normal Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm schedule is associated with this position, though frequent daily travel, occasional overnight travel, and weekend work may be needed to meet with landowners, attend meetings, coordinate activities, etc.
