Volunteer Services Coordinator

In this role, the Volunteer Services Coordinator works to enhance patient experience, support hospital staff and departments, and engage the community through the day-to-day activities of the hospital volunteer program.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

• Executes the volunteer program plan in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.  
• Communicates with a diverse public; including fielding inquiries for information on how to become a volunteer. 
• Maintains volunteer program materials in accordance with organizational standards.

• Partners with various members of hospital departments, and administration on volunteer needs and placements. 
• Ensures compliance with required background checks, health screenings, confidentiality requirements, training, and other related onboarding processes.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing questions, concerns, and opportunities for engagement. Coordinates schedules where required.
• Coaches and motivates individuals and groups of volunteers toward the successful completion of their volunteer duties.
• Actively seeks out and accepts work projects for volunteers; supervises volunteers in the successful completion of assigned projects.
• Maintains volunteer database, including contact information, and years/hours served. 
• Assists with planning and coordination of volunteer appreciation events, recognition initiatives, and special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates degree required.
• At least two years of experience in coordinating office, administrative, program or human resource functions of a large department.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, with patient experience or hospital volunteers, is also preferred.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications. Will maintain volunteer databases.

Pay Range:

$23.15 - $31.16

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
