Job Description
The Senior Manager, Pricing & Profitability is a commercially focused, analytically rigorous leader responsible for owning and advancing CHEP's pricing architecture, margin protection frameworks, and profitability intelligence systems across the U.S. business. The role operates at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and commercial influence, translating data-driven insights into defensible commercial decisions, cross-functional alignment, and measurable P&L impact.This role owns specific pricing programs end-to-end, leads the development of strategic pricing tools and models, and acts as a key thought partner to the Director and commercial leadership. It is designed for a pricing professional ready to move beyond execution into genuine strategic ownership.
Location: Hybrid; Orlando, FL or Atlanta, GA based
Travel: Up to 20% domestic
Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Develop, communicate, and lead the execution of pricing and revenue management strategies across sectors and segments to maximize profitability.
- Provide detailed analytical breakdowns of pricing structures to inform decision-making and enhance pricing effectiveness.
- Lead the design, implementation, and measurement of pricing actions, ensuring alignment with portfolio management scenarios and performance goals.
- Perform value chain analysis to support cost reductions, service differentiation, and improved customer service metrics.
- Develop systematic tools and methodologies for pricing strategies, including pricing waterfall analytics and value-based pricing models.
- Oversee the contract renewal process, win/loss metrics, and pricing performance, ensuring data-driven guidance for market positioning.
- Analyze historical pricing trends and refine deal scoring KPIs to support strategic pricing decisions and governance structure compliance.
- Mentor and manage a team of pricing professionals, fostering skill development and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
What You’ll do
- Lead customer-level and segment-level pricing strategies, including price increase programs, guardrail frameworks, and deal pricing governance.
- Own the B2B price increase workstream for assigned customer segments, including churn risk scoring, pricing recommendations, and sequencing logic for approximately 2,400+ customers.
- Develop pricing guardrails, floor and ceiling structures, approval workflows, and sacrifice value or break-even frameworks.
- Translate pricing strategy into field-facing tools and playbooks for the Sales organization.
- Own pricing models, segmentation tools, elasticity frameworks, and margin waterfall analytics.
- Serve as thought partner and validation lead for Pricefx enhancements and own Pricefx Voice of Customer exercises.
- Develop logistic regression-based churn models, price sensitivity analyses, win-back scoring models, competitive vulnerability assessments, and cost-to-serve analyses.
- Monitor transportation and labor surcharge mechanisms and recommend calibration adjustments based on index triggers and P&L exposure.
- Design and maintain microcluster segmentation frameworks by customer size, market type, and geography.
- Partner with Sales, Finance, and Operations to embed pricing discipline across the Win/Keep/Grow commercial framework.
- Own pricing performance metrics, trend reporting, and variance attribution for the Commercial Health Dashboard.
- Lead deal review governance for non-standard pricing requests and contribute to annual pricing strategy planning.
- Maintain competitive intelligence infrastructure, monitor external cost indices, and develop response playbooks for competitive scenarios.
- Build pricing literacy through training, structured tools, and AI-assisted coaching; mentor junior analysts.
- Defensible pricing recommendations and measurable P&L impact.
- Effective pricing program execution, deal governance, and margin protection.
- Actionable pricing, profitability, churn, segmentation, and competitive intelligence models.
- Consistent application of surcharge mechanics, margin guardrails, and pricing policy in contracts and renewals.
- Improved pricing literacy and disciplined execution across the commercial organization.
- Owns assigned pricing programs, analytical frameworks, and pricing performance metrics end-to-end.
- Provides structured analytical assessments and recommendations for non-standard pricing requests.
- Presents pricing strategies, model outputs, and recommendations to Director- and VP-level stakeholders.
- Challenges assumptions and operates with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced commercial environment.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 6-9 years of progressive experience in pricing, commercial finance, or revenue management, including at least 3 years in a B2B environment.
- MBA or Certified Pricing Professional designation preferred.
- Proven ability to independently build pricing models, churn/elasticity frameworks, and margin analytics.
- Demonstrated experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders with data-backed recommendations.
- Experience in industrial services, logistics, supply chain, or asset-heavy B2B businesses preferred.
- Super-user experience with Pricefx, PROS, Vendavo, Zilliant, or other pricing optimization software preferred.
- Experience with customer segmentation methodologies, competitive intelligence frameworks, and game theory applications preferred.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with Python, R, or SQL strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating complex analytics into executive-ready narratives.
- Experience with Power BI, Copilot Studio, or AI-assisted commercial analytics tools preferred.
- Analytical depth to build credible, defensible models and commercial judgment to turn models into competitive advantage.
- Ability to present to executives, challenge assumptions, mentor junior analysts, and influence across functions.
