KBR is seeking a Principal Software Architect and Development Lead to serve as the software discipline lead for engineering and development activities.
Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for software products, IR&D projects, and innovation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development teams in the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of modern software solutions.
- Define and maintain software architecture standards and best practices.
- Lead AI/ML, cloud, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Conduct architecture reviews and code reviews while enforcing software quality standards.
- Mentor software engineers and provide technical guidance across programs.
- Support hiring activities including interviewing, candidate selection, onboarding, and workforce development.
- Partner with leadership to develop and execute software strategy and technology roadmaps.
- Collaborate with customers, program managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver mission-focused software capabilities.
Work Environment:
- Location: Beavercreek, OH
- Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%
- Working Hours: Standard
Required Qualifications:
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline
15+ years of software engineering experience
Experience leading software development teams or engineering organizations
Expertise architecting complex cloud-based and distributed software systems
Proficiency in Python
Experience with APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps methodologies
Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies
Experience with database technologies
Desired Qualifications:
Experience as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Startup company experience
AWS and AWS GovCloud expertise
Kubernetes experience
Knowledge of FedRAMP and NIST frameworks
Active Secret security clearance
Experience supporting DoD or federal government customers
