We are seeking a talented individual to join the Facultative department at Marsh Re. This role will be based in Sandton, hybrid and has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Facultative Broker within Marsh Re, you will use your knowledge of market practices, pricing and underwriting appetite to structure and place facultative reinsurance solutions that meet client needs. You will prepare and present submissions to reinsurers, obtain and negotiate quotes/terms, and work closely with advisors and client executives to evaluate options and secure the best outcome. This is a hands-on broking role suited to an experienced, proactive contributor who can manage placements end-to-end, work independently, support the wider team and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the business.

We will count on you to:

  • Uses significant risk expertise and knowledge of industry and carriers to develop placement solutions that meet client needs.

  • Implements the Placement strategy to achieve growth goals and provide exceptional client service.

  • Facilitates submission of coverage specifications and obtains quotes and present quotes to cedents.

  • Binds coverage and is responsible for the accuracy of placement binders.

  • Creates and maintains relationships with practice, reinsurance markets, client’s carriers and/or underwriters to provide cohesive client service.

  • Advises on changing reinsurance and risk management market conditions and informs cedents of major developments affecting various types of products/coverage.

  • Interfaces closely with cedents to support client retention and new business production.

  • Drives senior placement/technical support activities on assigned accounts, such as ensuring procedural compliance, reviewing data and maintaining accurate placement system entries, to ensure contract execution as required.

  • Advises management about client issues or trends through clear and concise communication and participates in development of solutions.

What you need to have:

  • FAIS Compliant – RE 5

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a broker, particularly handling corporate and commercial business.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and communication skills.

  • A focus on customer service and key deliverables is essential.

  • Be detail orientated, strong with time management and organization skills.

  • Team player.
