PRIMARY OBJECTIVES/JOB SUMMARY
The Special Events Service Technician is responsible for supporting portable sanitation services for special events, festivals, concerts, sporting events, fairs, and other large-scale or temporary projects.
This position is a hands-on, field-based role that requires extensive travel, operation of company vehicles and equipment, setup and removal of portable sanitation equipment, servicing and pumping units, and providing on-site support throughout events.
Special events may require employees to travel away from home for extended periods, including multiple days or weeks at a time. Work schedules will vary based on event requirements and may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
When not assigned to special events, this position will support normal branch and yard operations as directed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES/JOB FUNCTION:
Special Events
- Travel to special events and project locations assigned, including overnight and extended travel.
- Assist with the planning, staging, delivery, setup, servicing, teardown, and removal of portable sanitation equipment.
- Load, secure, transport, unload, and position portable toilets, handwashing stations, restroom trailers, holding tanks, barricades, and other event equipment.
- Set up event sites according to provided layouts, customer requirements, and operational instructions.
- Ensure equipment is properly placed, clean, functional, stocked, and ready for use before an event begins.
- Perform service throughout events, including pumping, cleaning, sanitizing, restocking, and relocating units when necessary.
- Operate pump trucks and other company vehicles and equipment for which the employee is properly trained, licensed, and authorized.
- Monitor equipment and sanitation conditions during events and respond quickly to service needs.
- Assist with teardown and removal of equipment following the completion of an event.
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous service when interacting with customers, event organizers, vendors, attendees, and other employees.
- Work effectively as part of a team in fast-paced environments where schedules and priorities may change with little notice.
Driving & Equipment Operation
- Safely operate pump trucks, delivery trucks, trailers, and other company vehicles as assigned.
- Complete the required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Properly secure equipment and loads before transportation.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable DOT, traffic, and transportation requirements.
- Immediately report vehicle, equipment, safety, or mechanical concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Complete required service records, inspection forms, route documentation, or other operational paperwork.
Yard & Branch Support
- When not assigned to special events, the Special Events Service Technician will assist with branch operations as needed, including:
- Cleaning, repairing, and preparing portable sanitation equipment for service.
- Load and unloading trucks and trailers.
- Organizing and maintaining the yard, warehouse, and equipment storage areas.
- Washing and preparing trucks and equipment.
- Assisting with inventory and supplies.
- Performing basic equipment inspections and identifying units requiring repair.
- Assisting drivers and service technicians with daily operational needs.
- Completing deliveries, pickups, exchanges, or regular service routes when needed and qualified.
- Performing other duties necessary to support branch operations.
Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- CDL license preferred, but not required
- Experience operating pump trucks and other sanitation service equipment a plus
- Must meet all Department of Transportation requirements, including successful completion of a drug and alcohol screening and medical examination
