SUMMARY

We are seeking a well-rounded General Construction Sales professional with proven construction industry experience with strong business development and selling skills. This individual will be responsible for identifying new construction opportunities, developing customer relationships, selling General Construction solutions, and coordinating projects from initial opportunity through completion.


This position will work closely with our existing Project Manager, Racking Sales Team, subcontractors, and customers to identify and execute construction-related opportunities within the industrial, warehouse, distribution center, and manufacturing environments. The General Construction Sales professional will sell and coordinate a broad range of construction solutions, including warehouse/distribution center finish-out projects, break rooms, employee areas, bathroom construction, renovations, guard houses, exterior storage buildings, warehouse office buildouts, concrete repairs/additions, facility modifications, improvements, structural/building modifications and other industrial/commercial construction needs.

The ideal candidate understands the construction process, can communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders, and is comfortable moving between sales, project coordination, customer communication, and administrative responsibilities.

This is a customer-facing sales and project development role. Success will be measured by the ability to identify opportunities, develop relationships, close profitable business, and effectively manage customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proven ability to identify General Construction opportunities and close deals that align with company objectives and customer needs.
  • Ability to accurately assess project scope, generate detailed cost estimates, and prepare competitive bids that align with customer needs and profitability goals.
  • Build relationships with facility managers, operations leaders, warehouse managers, plant managers, sub-contractors, project managers, engineers, purchasing teams, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Racking Sales Team to identify construction opportunities generated through racking, warehouse, storage, automation, and material handling projects.
  • Prepare and present proposals in coordination with the Project Manager, sub-contractors and internal team.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately track opportunities through CRM and SmartSheets.
  • Develop repeat business by staying engaged with customers after project completion.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and cross-selling throughout the customer relationship.
  • Coordinating with cross-discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
  • Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
  • Establishing effective project communication plans with project management team and ensuring their execution.
  • Facilitating change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
  • Work alongside the current Project Manager to coordinate active projects and ensure customer expectations are clearly understood and managed.
  • Communicate project status, timelines, responsibilities, and next steps to customer stakeholders.
  • Coordinate internal resources and assign smaller tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Schedule customer meetings, site visits, project meetings, inspections, and other required activities.
  • Identify potential issues early and communicate them to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Coordinate information between sales, estimating, project management, construction, subcontractors, and the customer.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns and managing expectations throughout the project.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in General Construction, commercial construction, industrial construction, warehouse construction, or a related field.
  • Experience selling construction services to industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution center customers.
  • Experience working with General Contractors, subcontractors, facility managers, or construction project teams.
  • Proven sales or business development experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, terminology, and project execution.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, scopes of work, and project requirements.
  • Strong customer-facing communication, relationship-building, organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and ability to learn and utilize SmartSheets and other project management tools.
  • Experience developing construction estimates or scopes of work.
  • Experience managing subcontractors or construction projects.
  • Established relationships within the industrial or commercial construction market.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

College degree required or 3+ years equivalent experience.

General Construction License is a plus

Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to customer sites.


WORK CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is in an office, outdoors, and in industrial environments. Noise levels could fluctuate from low to high.
