Description
Job Description:
The New York Post is looking for a Product Manager, Strategic Programs to join our newly created Product Innovation and Strategy team.
This is a chance to help shape what comes next for one of the most recognizable media brands in the country. You will work on new products, AI, emerging technology, and ideas that can actually make their way into the hands of our audience. Think websites, apps, new digital experiences, internal tools, automation, and entirely new ways of doing things.
This is a highly visible role with direct access to stakeholders and C Suite leadership. Our team is here to experiment, move quickly, and take ideas from “what if?” to something real. You will have room to test new technology, try things that have never been done before, figure out what works, and run with the ideas that have potential.
We are looking for someone who is scrappy, curious, self motivated, and genuinely excited about product and innovation. Someone who does not need to be told what to do next, is comfortable with ambiguity, and enjoys figuring out solutions when there is no obvious playbook. If you are excited by AI, constantly experimenting with new tools, and want your work to have a visible impact, this is a role where you can do that.
What You Will Do:
- Own strategic product and innovation initiatives from idea through launch, keeping projects moving and turning concepts into real products and experiences.
- Work directly with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Editorial, Design, Data, Commercial, and other teams to understand opportunities and build solutions.
- Experiment with AI tools, emerging technologies, and new platforms to identify ways we can improve our products, workflows, audience experience, and business.
- Take an idea, figure out what is possible, test it, learn from it, and determine whether it should move forward.
- Turn business needs into clear product requirements, user stories, project plans, priorities, and next steps.
- Be hands on. Jump into the work, solve problems, test solutions, and do whatever is needed to keep an initiative moving.
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to make our teams more efficient and our products better.
- Partner with technical teams to help turn concepts and experiments into practical, scalable solutions.
- Define success metrics and KPIs, track results, gather feedback, and use what you learn to improve or rethink an initiative.
- Coordinate testing and launch activities and make sure new products and experiences are ready for our audiences.
- Keep up with what is happening across AI, technology, media, and the broader product landscape and bring new ideas to the table.
- Manage multiple initiatives and know when to prioritize, reprioritize, push something forward, or change direction.
What We Are Looking For:
- 3 to 4 years of experience in Product Management, Product Innovation, Strategic Programs, Project Management, or a similar role is the sweet spot for this position.
- Someone who genuinely cares about product and wants to build things, not simply manage timelines.
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging technology, with hands on experience experimenting with Generative AI tools and an interest in learning what is coming next.
- A self starter who can take an ambiguous problem and figure out where to start without needing constant direction.
- Someone who is scrappy and resourceful and enjoys finding creative solutions when the obvious answer does not exist.
- Strong project and product management skills, including the ability to prioritize, organize, manage competing deadlines, and drive work through completion.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work directly with stakeholders, senior leaders, and C Suite executives.
- Someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution and is willing to roll up their sleeves and do the work.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work across technical and non technical teams.
- Experience defining product requirements, managing projects, and using data and feedback to measure success.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Airtable, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Media, news, publishing, entertainment, or another fast moving consumer facing industry is highly preferred.
- Experience working on digital products, emerging technology, AI, automation, or innovation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of current AI tools and a genuine curiosity about how AI can change products and workflows.
- Familiarity with content management systems, publishing technology, video, advertising technology, personalization, recommendation systems, or other high traffic digital products.
- Basic understanding of APIs, software development, or cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Experience presenting ideas, projects, or recommendations to senior management.
Why This Role?
- Build things people actually see. Your work can show up across NYPost.com, our apps, digital products, and other experiences used by millions of people.
- Experiment with AI and new technology. We want people who are excited to try new things and figure out how they can actually benefit the business.
- Work with senior leadership. This is a high visibility team with direct communication and exposure to C Suite executives.
- Have the freedom to run with ideas. This is a newly created team built around innovation, experimentation, and finding what comes next.
- Work across the business. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Editorial, Design, Data, Commercial, and other teams rather than operating in a silo.
- Make an impact. You will not just create roadmaps or manage projects. You will help decide what we build, test new ideas, and see those ideas become real.
- Be part of something new. This team is at the forefront of NYP's innovation and startup initiatives, with the opportunity to help shape both the products and the way we work.
Note: The New York Post follows a hybrid work model. This position is expected to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week, subject to change based on business needs.
