Be part of a global Finance Data team that helps ensure the quality, integrity, and effective governance of critical financial data. You will support the enhancement of data management practices across the Firm, with a focus on data quality, governance, issue management, and controls. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across Finance and key business areas, including Operations, Institutional Securities, Firm Risk, Wealth Management, and Technology, while contributing to meaningful improvements in data quality and regulatory readiness.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Support the Capital Data Governance Council, working with senior stakeholders responsible for overseeing data-related activities impacting capital.
  • Investigate data quality issues by conducting root cause analysis and identifying drivers of data inconsistencies.
  • Manage data issues throughout their lifecycle, including tracking, metadata maintenance, status updates, remediation follow-up, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Finance and the wider Firm to support timely resolution of data quality matters.
  • Contribute to key team deliverables and projects, applying your knowledge of Finance processes, data governance, and regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare clear, high-quality materials for internal governance forums and senior management discussions.
  • Analyse datasets using spreadsheets and other tools, summarizing key findings and presenting actionable insights.
  • Support compliance with Firmwide and regulatory data quality standards, helping ensure processes are aligned with internal policies and control expectations.
  • Document internal processes and controls, while identifying opportunities to improve data quality, efficiency, and transparency.
  • Promote a strong risk and control mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to reduce risk in day-to-day work.
  • Act as a role model for Firm values, demonstrating accountability, collaboration, integrity, and excellence.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 2+ years of professional experience, preferably in Finance, Data Governance, Data Quality, Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Operations, or a related area.
  • Experience with Data Quality Management and/or metadata management.
  • Understanding of Data Quality controls, rules, and issue management processes.
  • Strong skills in root cause analysis and problem-solving.
  • Working knowledge of Data Governance principles.
  • Knowledge of financial products and regulatory reporting; experience with capital calculation or capital reporting is an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences, including senior stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with structured processes and documentation.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Awareness of data warehousing principles; experience with databases and SQL queries is preferred.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset and willingness to work with global teams.

Why join us:

  • Work in a global Finance Data Governance team with exposure to senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to processes that support the Firm’s capital data quality, governance, and regulatory readiness.
  • Build expertise in data quality, issue management, controls, and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with teams across regions and business areas.
  • Be part of a professional environment that values integrity, accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
