Description
Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Controller Lead Engineer to lead the delivery of Motor Control Units for high-voltage electric propulsion applications by coordinating activities across Electronics, Embedded Software and Mechanical Engineering teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the delivery of Motor Control Units for customer programmes, ensuring delivery to agreed technical, quality, cost and schedule objectives
- Represent the motor control unit independently to internal stakeholders, programme leadership and customers
- Maintain an integrated view of controller development activities across Electronics, Embedded Software and Mechanical Engineering disciplines
- Establish controller-level priorities and coordinate delivery activities across all contributing engineering teams
- Monitor technical maturity and delivery progress. Communicate technical or delivery risks with clear recommendations and proposed mitigation actions
- Maintain sufficient technical understanding of motor control unit to effectively coordinate development activities
- Lead controller-level technical reviews and support informed decision-making through effective communication of technical information, risks and recommendations
- Coordinate cross-functional resolution of technical issues, integration challenges and development dependencies
- Conduct controller-level engineering investigations, analyses and trade studies to support technical decision-making and issue resolution
- Review and interpret simulation results, test data and engineering evidence to assess technical maturity, risks and programme impact
- Prepare technical reports, review material, engineering summaries and customer-facing technical documentation
- Coordinate controller integration, verification and validation activities across all contributing disciplines
- Ensure technical evidence is available to support product maturity assessments, design reviews and release decisions.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree in electronics engineering, software engineering, physics or a related discipline
- Experience working in aerospace, automotive or other safety-critical engineering sectors
- Good understanding of motor control units, embedded control systems and electronic hardware architectures
- Experience in coordinating the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering activities involving electronics, embedded software and mechanical engineering
- Ability to understand and critically review technical requirements, analyses, simulation results, test data and verification evidence
- Experience using modelling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink
- Understanding of product verification, qualification and environmental testing
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with engineers, customers and senior stakeholders
- Ability to establish priorities and make informed decisions using technical evidence and engineering judgement
- A 'self-starter' attitude with energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to thrive in a small business environment
- Ability to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlines
- A flexible approach to work.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with aerospace development standards such as ARP4754A.
