Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Manager, Aircraft Maintenance 1 to join our high caliber team of qualified individuals within our Flight Operations organization. This position is located at Whiteman AFB, Missouri, the only operational base of the B-2 Stealth Bomber.

Position Description:

As the Manager, Aircraft Maintenance 1, you have the responsibility, authority, and accountability for leading the manufacturing activities of a highly experienced team. You will be responsible for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and technical performance of the modification team. You will ensure that your team has the information and tools needed to perform at their best. This position will be for 2nd shift. Candidates must be willing to work the following schedules: Monday – Friday (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm). This position may require occasional overtime and weekend work. Work hours may have to shift to support mod schedules, testing requirements and aircraft delivery timelines. This position requires an active security clearance. The nature of this position requires individuals to be comfortable working in a classified environment; cell phones or personal electronic devices are prohibited within these areas.

The selected candidate will ensure accurate labor reporting, establish employee goals, provide performance feedback and encourage development and engagement for assigned employees

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the daily operations of the aircraft team to include leading, managing, motivating, developing, and engaging a team of aircraft mechanics and technicians in a dynamic environment
  • Oversees daily activities of assigned production area to achieve departmental objectives, quality, schedule, cost, and safety.
  • Conducts safety briefings and addressing/resolving problematic maintenance complexities that arise in the completion of maintenance actions.
  • Ensures customer maintenance requirements are met
  • Coordinate with support functions to ensure appropriate tools, materials, engineering actions are executed relative to their work areas, and ensuring their employees are familiar with and use required processes and tools
  • Cumunicates priorities to team members and up channel issues
  • Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures
  • Establishes team and individual goals
  • Ensures performance review processes are followed/completed
  • Ensures team members receive the required training
  • Encourages and provides direction for career development of employees, including educational options for highly motivated employees.
  • Provides leadership/direction to ensure all affordability initiatives and opportunities for process improvements are systematically identified, pursued, and supported.
  • Ensures all required equipment and work packages are available
  • Support all internal/external audits

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of military or civilian aircraft maintenance experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 years of military or civilian aircraft maintenance experience; OR a High school diploma/GED with 9 years of military or civilian aircraft maintenance experience.
  • One year of leadership experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance and Special Program Access.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.
  • The selected candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on business needs, including but not limited to: Day shift, Night shift, Mid Shift, and Weekend Shift and overtime when required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active B-2 program clearance
  • USAF or equivalent Aircraft Maintenance Flightline Expeditor or Production Superintendent Experience.
  • B-2 Aircraft Maintenance and Operations Experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Primary Level Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $135,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
