Slitting Supervisor

SUMMARY:

The Slitting Supervisor manages and coordinates activities of employees within the slitting department. This will be a working supervisor role. The individual will operate the slitter while also directly supervising a team of approximately 7 employees.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervise and coordinate daily slitting production activities.
2. Set up and operate slitting machines according to production orders and specifications.
3. Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot operating problems.
4. Train, guide, and assign work to slitting operators.
5. Maintains reports, records, and documentation to reflect department activities.
6. Works with management to establish and modify department operational methods and procedures.
7. Perform routine machine inspections and report maintenance issues.
8. Evaluates work for accuracy and conformance to policies.
9. Enforce company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards.
10. Support continuous-improvement activities and identify opportunities to improve productivity and quality.
11. Other duties as assigned by management.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, business partners, plant personnel, and others, and must be able to complete all necessary paperwork in a legible and thorough manner.
2. Strong leadership ability, able to mentor and gain trust at all levels and manage, direct, coach, develop, and engage a team.
3. Ability to conform to all safety requirements
4. Analytical ability, good judgment, strong operational focus, critical thinking, and able to effectively assess and resolve complex and/or technical problems.
5. Ability to work cooperatively with others to ensure constructive and productive business relationships, business coordination and staff development.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. A minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. A solid understanding of business planning and operational, quality, and safety requirements.
4. Experience effectively utilizing computerized business systems and other technology and business platforms.
