Job Description Summary

At GE Vernova, every component matters. A delayed part can impact production, disrupt schedules, and ultimately slow the transition to a more sustainable energy future. As a Lead Buyer/Planner supporting our North American Wind Operations team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the right materials arrive at the right time to keep manufacturing moving and wind turbines reaching customers.

This is more than a procurement role. It is an opportunity to be a key contributor within a fast-paced manufacturing environment where your decisions directly impact operational performance, customer commitments, and GE Vernova's mission to electrify and decarbonize the world.

If you enjoy solving problems, collaborating with teams, driving supplier performance, and making measurable business impacts, we want to hear from you.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full purchasing lifecycle for assigned components, from planned order release through supplier delivery, receipt, and payment.
  • Execute and manage purchase orders to ensure uninterrupted material flow and on-time production support.
  • Partner with Master Scheduling and Engineering teams to support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain accurate order execution.
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively expedite materials to mitigate delivery risks and production disruptions.
  • Drive improvements in key supply chain and procure-to-pay performance metrics through data analysis and problem solving.
  • Collaborate with Global Commodity Leaders to align sourcing strategies and support supplier performance for the Schenectady manufacturing operation.
  • Resolve supply chain constraints, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve material availability and delivery performance.
  • Support operational planning activities while balancing inventory, supplier capacity, and production requirements.
  • Build strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive accountability, communication, and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing, procurement, sourcing, planning, supply chain, or engineering.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle or other enterprise platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic production environment.
  • Experience supporting supplier delivery performance, expediting materials, and managing Line of Balance (LOB) requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, drive resolution, and improve operational performance.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience supporting renewable energy, power generation, or advanced manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with Oracle, Corella, Manufacturing Operations Systems (MOS), ServiceNow, or similar business platforms.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and standard work practices.
  • Experience coordinating projects or programs across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data, reporting, and visualization tools to drive decisions.
  • Exposure to global supply chains, international suppliers, or multinational operations.
