Overview: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Lathe Operator to join our dynamic team in our metals manufacturing facility, specializing in high-quality part production for the medical, defense, and commercial markets. As a Senior Lathe Operator, you will play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring precision, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
Responsibilities:
• Program, set up and operate multi axis CNC turning centers, including but not limited to, twin spindle, live tool, Y axis lathes with milling capability to produce parts with the utmost precision and efficiency.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements and processes.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize machining strategies and implement tooling changes for improved outcomes.
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet quality standards and specifications.
• Perform routine inspections of finished parts using various measurement tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and address any machining issues that arise during production, making real-time adjustments as needed.
• Complete job router logs, inspection sheets, and material tracking documentation accurately.
• Train and mentor junior machine operators, providing guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and operational techniques.
• Adhere to all shop safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and quality standard operating procedures (e.g., ISO 9001 / AS9100).
Requirements
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining is a plus.
• Proven experience as a CNC lathe programmer, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior or lead role.
• Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machinery, specifically multi axis lathes with milling capability.
• Strong understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and machining specifications.
• Knowledge of various machining techniques, tools, and materials used in the production metal, plastic, and composites.
• Proficient with CAD/CAM software for programming and toolpath generation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on producing high-quality and accurate parts.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials as required.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise and varying temperatures.
