School of Medicine Integrated Resources, Academic HR has an outstanding opportunity for an Academic HR Partner to join their team.


About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Associate Director, Integrated Resources, Academic HR, the Academic HR Partner serves as a trusted advisor supporting clinical departments across the UW School of Medicine. This role blends strategic academic HR partnership, faculty and academic personnel lifecycle expertise, operational leadership, and process innovation to deliver an exceptional faculty experience while ensuring compliance across complex academic healthcare environments.


Working closely with department chairs, administrators, faculty leaders, affiliate institutions, and central offices, you will help advance a collaborative shared services model that supports education, research, and patient care.


Key Responsibilities

Academic Affairs (75%)

  • Serve as the primary academic HR partner for assigned clinical departments, providing expert guidance on faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions, compensation, onboarding, annual reviews, leaves, reduced responsibility, and separations.
  • Oversee faculty recruitment and appointment processes, including hiring plans, job postings, offer letters, appointment materials, practice plan agreements, and onboarding activities.
  • Lead and coordinate faculty and academic personnel credentialing, medical staff appointments, licensure requirements, and multi-site practice readiness across affiliated healthcare organizations.
  • Manage visa sponsorship activities and other specialized faculty lifecycle processes while ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory, and affiliate requirements.
  • Provide strategic consultation to department chairs, administrators, faculty leaders, and academic personnel regarding complex academic HR policies, procedures, compensation, and workforce matters.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of academic HR professionals while promoting operational excellence, accountability, and high-quality customer service.
  • Partner with departmental and School leadership to ensure timely and accurate Workday and related faculty transactions while supporting compliance and faculty success across the academic lifecycle.

Problem Solving & Process Improvement (15%)

  • Analyze complex academic HR issues, interpret policies and regulations, and recommend solutions that balance needs, operational priorities, and compliance obligations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable processes, standard operating procedures, tracking tools, and Workday-based improvements that enhance consistency, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with central offices, departmental partners, and affiliate institutions to resolve challenging cases, streamline operations, and strengthen alignment across the School of Medicine.

Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives (10%)

  • Lead or support strategic initiatives focused on faculty onboarding, multi-site credentialing, academic HR operations, process improvement, and shared-service effectiveness.
  • Develop training resources, knowledge content, and communication materials while contributing to cross-functional projects, policy implementation efforts, and initiatives that foster an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming workplace.

This position manages employees: two or more staff members.


Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a university, academic healthcare, medical administration, or related environment.

Additional Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-management skills.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and meeting critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of academic healthcare environments and faculty and academic affairs operations.
  • Experience with UW systems, Workday, faculty compensation, or medical staff credentialing processes.
  • Strong project management, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive or complex situations with sound judgment, diplomacy, and discretion.

Our team partners with departments across UW Medicine and affiliated institutions to support faculty success throughout the entire academic lifecycle. Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$87,000.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$130,488.00 annual
