We are seeking a Public Health Notifications Coordinator to support time-sensitive Ebola response communications and surveillance workflows. This person will manage messages received through the International Health Regulations (IHR) inbox, accurately enter state and foreign Ebola notifications into the Port Health Activity Reporting System (PHARS), and prepare and send Foreign Public Health Notifications (FPHNs) through approved channels when required.

The coordinator will help ensure urgent information reaches the appropriate response staff, records are accurate, and international notifications are handled promptly and securely.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

· Monitor, triage, and organize Ebola-related communications in the IHR inbox.

· Identify information that meets established urgent-response criteria and promptly alert designated response personnel.

· Track incoming requests, follow-up items, and completion status to prevent missed communications.

· Enter state and foreign Ebola notifications into PHARS; verify key details and flag discrepancies for resolution.

· Prepare and send FPHNs to designated international focal points when required under approved procedures.

· Verify recipients and required information before sending sensitive notifications, and document completed actions.

· Coordinate with authorized program staff when information is incomplete or an escalation decision is needed.

· Handle traveler and public health information only through approved systems and channels.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, emergency management, communications, or a closely related field.

· Experience coordinating time-sensitive communications or managing a shared inbox or work queue.

· Experience entering and checking records in a secure database or case-management system.

· Ability to follow defined escalation procedures, prioritize urgent work, and maintain accurate records.

· Strong written communication, organization, discretion, and attention to detail.

· Ability to complete the background investigation, identity verification, and credentialing requirements for this CDC-supported assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with public health surveillance, emergency response, travel health, or interagency notifications.

· Familiarity with PHARS, IHR communications, or international public health notifications.

CDC Credentialing and Access

Selection is contingent on completing applicable CDC and HHS requirements and receiving approval for the required campus and system access. The process may include identity verification, fingerprinting, a federal background investigation, agency review of suitability or fitness, and issuance of an appropriate badge or credential. Required access must be maintained throughout the assignment.
