Overview

The Line Cook prepares all aspects of food production for E11EVEN Club Hotel & Residences, including food preparation according to the descriptions and standard recipes set forth by the company, while adhering to sanitation practices. Under the general guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, the Line Cook is responsible for preparing all food items to the Executive Chef’s and hotel standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables as required to prepare them for cooking or consumption.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes.
  • Serve food (for example, soups, desserts, sides, and entrées) in proper portions onto dishes, plates, mugs, and bowls, ensuring proper portion, arrangement, garnish, and plate appearance according to standards.
  • Ensure food storage areas are clean.
  • Prepare all potentially hazardous foods at the correct temperature according to HACCP guidelines.
  • Follow appropriate personal hygiene procedures to ensure food served to guests is safe for consumption.
  • Follow and ensure compliance with food safety and handling policies and procedures.
  • Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Ensure the quality of food items and notify a manager if a product does not meet specifications.
  • Check the temperature of appliances and food using thermostats and thermometers, including monitoring freezer systems, such as fans, drains, and doors, for proper operation.
  • Report maintenance issues immediately to appropriate personnel (i.e., management or Engineering).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company Food Safety Programs within the assigned area of responsibility, as well as all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor the quantity of food prepared and the portions served to control food waste.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Sous Chef or management.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • One to two (1-2) years of related experience or equivalent; Certified Cook level or higher.
  • Ability to work under demanding and strenuous conditions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards, with acute attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to communicate effectively with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.

For Employees Based in Washington:

  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • Paid Sick & Safe Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with up to 72 hours of unused time carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

For Employees Based in Colorado:

  • 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
  • Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

Please note that certain benefits described above for associates in Washington, Colorado, and California may vary for associates covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”). For such associates, eligibility for and the terms and conditions of benefits are governed by the applicable CBA and any applicable plan documents, and may differ from the benefits described above. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency, the terms of the applicable CBA and governing plan documents will control, as applicable.
