Job Summary: Kwajalein


Job Summary:

The Marine Lieutenant provides marine security patrol services across the atoll and outer reefs of the Kwajalein Atoll to protect installation vessels, facilities, mission activities, and prevent unauthorized maritime intrusion.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handles all personnel and visitors arriving to or departing from Kwajalein Island by marine vessels.
  • The Marine Lieutenant shall assist in Search and Rescue (SAR) missions in accordance with local policy and regulation as needs arise.
  • Perform daily operator-level maintenance and pre-departure safety inspections of the GFP vessels
  • Maintain a daily log for each GFP vessel provided.
  • Supervises small groups of guards
  • Supervises a Local National (LN) Deckhand/Engineman
  • Patrol waterways for uncleared vessels entering harbor to include uncleared Marshallese vessels
  • Ensures that all assigned guard posts are staffed, monitoring performance of assigned guard force personnel
  • Ensures that all guard personnel are aware of and abide by all Post and general orders

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have an active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in conducting maritime patrols.Must possess a valid U.S. Coast Guard National Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV) of Less Than 100 Gross Tons Upon near Coastal Waters IAW AR 385-10.
  • Must possess Radar observer endorsement as required by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Manual, Volume III, Marine Industry Personnel, COMDINSTM 16000.SB.
  • Must have Shoreline endorsement
  • Must complete the Installation’s Harbor Patrol Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASIS CPP certification is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
