Description
We are seeking a Utility Tester to join our team and support the testing, inspection, commissioning, and documentation of underground water and sewer utility systems on construction projects. This position is responsible for performing water and sewer system testing, maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and assisting with project closeout activities.
Responsibilities
- This role is based out of Kansas City, but will require some travel to Oklahoma.
- This employee with go around between every local job site. Great communication skills with employees and someone who is task orientated.
- Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on water mains, service lines, and related utility systems.
- Conduct chlorination and dechlorination of newly installed water systems in accordance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Collect and document water quality samples for testing and acceptance.
- Perform flushing operations of water distribution systems prior to system commissioning.
- Conduct vacuum testing of manholes, structures, and associated sewer components.
- Perform low-pressure air testing of sanitary sewer lines.
- Complete mandrel testing to verify pipe installation compliance.
- Record, maintain, and submit accurate testing results and project documentation.
- Identify deficiencies and communicate corrective actions to project personnel.
- Assist field crews with minor punch list and project closeout work as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and field personnel to ensure successful project completion.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company policies, safety requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in underground utility construction, utility testing, water distribution systems, or sanitary sewer systems preferred.
- Knowledge of hydrostatic testing, chlorination, water sampling, flushing operations, air testing, vacuum testing, and mandrel testing preferred.
- Understanding of underground utility construction methods and quality control processes.
- Knowledge of confined space safety requirements and procedures preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and testing requirements.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a construction environment.
