The Job in a Nutshell:
The Purchasing Strategic Procurement Manager partners with cross-functional teams and leverages data, systems, and analytical tools to improve forecast accuracy, optimize inventory investments, identify purchasing opportunities, and support strategic business initiatives that drive sales, reduce shrink, and improve margin performance.
Responsibilities
Main Ingredients:
Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that support purchasing objectives and align with company strategy.
Support the development and execution of inventory and procurement strategies that optimize inventory levels, improve in-stock conditions, reduce shrink, increase gross margin, drive profitable sales growth, and enhance working capital performance.
Develop and maintain purchasing forecasting tools utilizing SQL, SAP, Power BI, Power Automate, and other analytical platforms.
Oversee strategic inventory programs including distributor-managed and supplier-managed inventory initiatives.
Manage Private Label inventory performance and develop tools that support supplier forecasting and replenishment planning.
Measure and report forecast accuracy utilizing MAPE, WMAPE, and other forecasting performance metrics.
Partner with Category Management to support promotional planning and identify chain-wide purchasing opportunities.
Prepare analytical reporting that evaluates promotional effectiveness, forecast accuracy, product cannibalization, promotional lift, price elasticity, inventory productivity, inventory turns, and margin performance.
Develop sales and inventory forecasts for new item launches, seasonal programs, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, inventory management, forecasting, replenishment, or related function.
Experience supporting retail promotional planning and promotional forecasting.
Strong understanding of inventory management, demand forecasting, and supply chain operations.
Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to present findings, summarize results, and provide actionable recommendations.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, internal business partners, and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
Advanced proficiency in SAP, SQL, Excel, and reporting platforms required; experience with Databricks, Power-Bi, Power Automate, and business intelligence tools preferred.
