Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to support Extended Power Uprate (EPU) engineering activities for commercial nuclear power plants. This role will provide senior-level engineering support for design development, system evaluations, design input reviews, contractor oversight, construction packages, and technical assessments associated with potential plant modifications.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in commercial nuclear power, engineering design, systems engineering, plant modifications, configuration management, operations, or licensing, along with the ability to independently evaluate complex technical issues and provide engineering direction.
Key Responsibilities

Apply engineering processes, design criteria, standards, and software tools to support design and construction of power-related systems.

Support development and review of Design Input Requests (DIRs) for EPU analyses.

Review engineering analyses, calculations, design changes, Task Reports, and technical documents.

Support owner acceptance and validation of engineering work products developed by external Architect-Engineer firms.

Develop design alternatives, cost estimates, construction specifications, and engineering packages.

Provide technical guidance and quality assurance oversight to approved contractors.

Review contractor designs, cost estimates, specifications, and construction packages.

Support engineering standards and design criteria development.

Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Design Engineering, Licensing, Construction, vendors, and other project stakeholders.

Support construction and maintenance teams during project implementation and day-to-day operations.

Evaluate plant modifications from engineering, design basis, operational, and licensing perspectives.

Support material estimates and preparation/transmittal of construction packages and specifications.
-
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and configuration control.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

10+ years of related engineering experience.
-
Minimum 5 years of commercial nuclear power plant experience.
-
Strong understanding of nuclear plant systems, engineering processes, operations, or licensing.

Advanced engineering and problem-solving skills.

Strong understanding of design practices, work processes, and configuration management.

Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous experience supporting Plant Hatch or Plant Vogtle Units 1–2.

Experience with BWR or PWR nuclear facilities.

Direct experience supporting Extended Power Uprate (EPU) or other power uprate projects.

Strong systems engineering background with knowledge of plant system interactions and performance.
-
Nuclear plant operations experience, including system operation, troubleshooting, and procedure use.

Experience with nuclear licensing, regulatory evaluations, or NRC submittals.
-
Experience with engineering design basis and plant modification implementation.
-
Familiarity with Southern Nuclear plant systems, procedures, and configuration management processes.
