CDL-A Semi-Local Frozen Food Driver – $86K + $5K Bonus

Earn approximately $86,000 per year on a dedicated semi-local frozen food account with a $5,000 bonus. Drivers average 1,800 miles per week, typically spend 3 nights out in the truck, and make deliveries across the Northeast and surrounding states, including New York City.

Pay Details

  • Average Weekly Pay: $1,700
  • $5,000 Bonus
  • $50-$100 if a driver unload is required
  • Detention paid in 15-minute increments after 2 hours
  • $20/hour safety training pay

Job Details

  • Dedicated frozen food account
  • Approximately 1,800 miles per week
  • Deliver frozen chicken to distribution centers, stores, and independent retailers
  • Delivery territory includes:
    • CT, DE, MA, MD, NH, NJ
    • NY including NYC
    • NC, OH, PA, RI, and VA
  • Approximately 3-5 loads per week
  • Approximately 3-4 outbound loads per week
  • Average 6 stops per week
  • Typically pick up between 5:00 PM-3:00 AM, based on Hours of Service
  • Out-and-back operation with a 10-hour break before another load on shorter runs
  • May shut down off-site for a 10-hour reset before the next pickup
  • Backhauls required on certain loads when available
  • NYC deliveries approximately 25% of the work, or about once per week per driver
  • City driving is required
  • Conventional automatic sleeper trucks
  • Trucks cannot be taken home during time off

Shift Details

  • 6-day workweek with a 34-hour reset
  • Typically 3 nights out per week
  • Days off generally fall on Saturday/Sunday, Sunday/Monday, or Monday/Tuesday
  • Days off vary from week to week
  • Night work
  • Drivers may operate using recap hours
  • Account operates 24/7/365
  • Holiday work is expected, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's

Freight & Unloading

  • Approximately 90% lumper unload
  • Approximately 10% driver unload
  • Driver unloads may require hand unloading, pallet jack, or dollies depending on the customer
  • Driver unload pays $50
  • For lumper deliveries, the driver contacts the designated lumper service before arrival so unloading can be arranged

Job Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Minimum 3 months of verifiable Class A CDL experience
  • Clean driving record
  • DOT Medical Card
  • No SAP drivers
  • Must be comfortable with NYC/city driving
  • Must be willing to perform driver unloads when required
  • Ability to work nights and spend multiple nights out
  • Ability to manage Hours of Service and recap operations
